Among the ruins, you sit and stare, At the life you once thought was fair. And as you gaze, you catch a glimpse Of the one day of triumph missed, Of your one chance at true love lost, And all the damage it cost. Now you walk quietly into the night, Without a stir, without a fight. There's nothing left to live for, But false ideals and strange metaphors. Living a lie and knowing the truth, You regret every path you took. Broken hopes scattered across the barren floor, With failure knocking at your door. Everything you were told was a white lie To conceal the truth, to muffle their cries. Your breathes become short, Nothing prepared you for predicaments of this sort. Nightmares become reality, reality becomes a hopeless fantasy You try to leave, stuck in this painful ecstacy, But your attempts are to no avail And your skin begins to turn pail. There is no where to run, no where to hide Just sit back and enjoy the ride. Failure is inevitable in every shape or form. From the failing student who sits in his dorm, To the lonely billionaire who eats alone, And to the starving bum who whines and moans. Among the ruins, Scattered are the pieces of fallen dreams.
